The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Adebola Babatunde Ekanola seems to have commenced his second term in office as he reported for work today.
Investigations revealed that he reported at his Vice Chancellor’s office this morning and was still there around 6pm. As an Acting VC, he attended to official assignments.
Ekanola’s official tenure lapsed yesterday but the Senate of the institution has recommended him for another six month, subject to the approval of the Governing Council, which is yet to make official pronouncement regarding whether the recommendation is approved or rejected.
A high ranking staff of the institution, who spoke with our medium said, “I want to assume that the Acting VC has been endorsed for a second term in office since the Governing Council has not come up to reject him. Maybe it is considered that giving a conducive atmosphere, he has the capacity to manage the affairs of the Premier University pending when a substantive VC will be appointed. That is my take on that”.
