Following the expiration of the five-year tenure of Olubunmi Omobolanle Faluyi as the 12th registrar of the University of Ibadan (UI), on Monday, April 3, 2023, the nation’s Premier University has appointed Ganiyu Oke Saliu as its 13th registrar.
Saliu, whose appointment has been approved by the Governing Council of the University is expected to assume duties on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, for a five-year tenure.
The new registrar formally took over from Faluyi yesterday.
At the inauguration and send-off ceremony organised for the incoming and outgoing Registrars in the institution’s historic Trenchard Hall, encomium was poured on the outgoing registrar, who was described as an astute administrator, a leader per excellence, and an effective manager of human and material resources.
Speaking, the nation’s Premier University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale noted that Faluyi’s journey to the pinnacle of her career was characterised by hard work, readiness to learn, commitment, loyalty to the system, a deep knowledge of the traditions and culture of the University and the desire to do the right thing and stand by the truth always.
There were also goodwill messages from colleagues who also described her as a repository of knowledge and administrative records.
The ceremony featured the symbolic handing over of the baton of leadership of the University Registry to the new Registrar.
In his remarks, Saliu promised to uphold the traditions of the University and to take the Registry and the University to higher heights.
He solicited the support and cooperation of all the staff to achieve a successful tenure, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
