After rigorous campaign by 365 aspirants jostling for 153 spaces of the Congregation Representatives to Senate of the University of Ibadan, voting begins at 8am on Wednesday July 29, 2020.
The voting shall be done electronically as eligible members of the community will vote in the comfort of their homes.
As a result of the school not being in session due to the on-going strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the outbreak of Coronavirus, the aspirants vigorously explored the social media and email accounts of their colleagues, for campaign.
The atmosphere is not different from the secular politics as some of the aspirants called as many as possible of their colleagues to solicit for votes.
Some of the aspirants went as far as making e-posters and circulating them on the social media to convince the electorates why they must be voted for.
Those who are not skilled in graphics to make e-posters, were sending messages on internet and emails to solicit for votes.
Female contestants also device means in which they will not be shortchanged in the election, as different groups on campus compiled their names and sent them to all female whats app groups, asking females to ensure that they vote for themselves.
