The end may not have been heard about the N40billion Earned Allowance the University of Ibadan (UI) received from the federal government, as the sharing of the 25 per cent given to the non-academic staff is tearing the three non-academic unions apart.
PrimeStarNews reliably gathered that the insistence of National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) on the legitimate sharing of the N529million given to the non-academic staff has infuriated members of Senior Staff Association Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU).
As a result of NAAT’s position, NASU and SSANU has summoned an emergency meeting for Friday January 29, 2021 at Niser Car Park.
According to a notice of the meeting signed by the Chairman, NASU COM Comrade A. O. Akinlade, Chairman, NASU UI, Comrade M. J. Etim and Chairman, SSANU UI, Comrade S. A. Akinremi and sent to their members, the unions will be taking position on “NAAT leadership’s act of misconduct over EA”.
Other issues on the agenda include “Serious issues on non-payment of the released EA to JAC members: NAAT’s legal actions against the rest of us”, update on local industrial action and preparation for the national industrial action.
