The University of Ibadan (UI) and Lagos State University (LASU), Ojoo, Lagos, have lost two members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The two lecturers who died today (Friday, April 18, 2025), are retired Professor Idowu Farai, UI former Head of Department of Physics and Dean of Science, who specialised in Radiation and Health Physics and Dr Seteolu Folabi Bamidele, an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science.
Seteolu, an expert of Political Economy and International Relations, who died in the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), was the former secretary of ASUU in LASU.

Professor Idowu Farai, who retired last year, was born on 05 September, 1954, obtained a B. Sc. in Physics and joined the services of the University of Ibadan as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Physics in September 1982. He rose through the ranks to become a professor in October 2006.
He pioneered research on radon gas in Nigeria, and he is an advocate of the safe use of atomic energy urging the nation to embrace the rich and clean energy source like the rest of the world.
