The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Kayode Oyebode Adebowale has instructed the students of the nation’s Premier University to ensure that they are Covid-19 vaccinated before the commencement of the next academic session in 2022, stressing that unvaccinated student would not be accommodated on campus.
Adebowale, who stated this when the leadership of the institution’s Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), paid him a visit in his office, emphasized the need for all the students to take Covid-19 vaccination very seriously, pointing out that unvaccinated students pose risks to other students and staff who have been vaccinated.
He said, “As from the next academic session, evidence of vaccination will be an additional prerequisite in securing a bed space in any of the halls of residence on campus. No vaccination, no accommodation”.
According to a statement signed by the Institution’s Director of Communication, Tunji Oladejo, the Vice Chancellor charged the campus journalists “to use their media platforms to demystify the misconceptions about the Covid-19 vaccination in the mind of the students, persuading them to visit the appropriate link to generate the code for the vaccination”.
