Barely a week after the death of retired Professor Idowu Farai of the Department of Physics, the University of Ibadan (UI) has lost another distinguished academic—Professor Adebayo Amos Omoloye.
Professor Omoloye was the former Head of the Department of Crop Protection and Environmental Biology, Faculty of Agriculture of the foremost Nigerian university.
A renowned expert in Agricultural Entomology and Pest Risk Analysis, Omoloye died on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
Professor Omoloye earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and later obtained a PhD from the University of Ibadan.
He was a seasoned Agricultural Biologist with nearly three decades of experience in teaching, research, and community service.
