The Appointment and Promotion Committee of the University of Ibadan (UI) has elevated three academic staff of the institution’s Faculty of The Social Sciences to the rank of substantive professors in its ongoing promotion exercise.
The promotions were approved today.
Two of the staff are from the Department of Geography and they are Drs Olalekan John Taiwo, who specialises in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), Health Geography, Urban Geography, and Health Geographies, and Olutoyin Adeola Fashae specialising in Fluvial & Biogeomorphology, GIS and Remote Sensing, Disaster Risk Assessments & Environmental Dynamics.
The third lecturer is Olayinka Akanle of the Department of Sociology. He specialises in Urban/Rural Sociology, Migration & Diaspora Studies.
The newly promoted professor Taiwo bagged a B.Sc. Hons (Geography) (1992), M.Sc. (Geography) (1996), M.Sc. (Geographic Information Systems) (1997), and Ph.D. (2010), from the University of Ibadan.
Fashae bagged a B.Sc. Hons, (Geography) (1998), M.Sc. GIS (2000), MSc (Geography) (2002), Ph.D. (2011), University of Ibadan
Akanle bagged a B.Sc. Hons (Sociology), (2000), M.Sc. (2008), and Ph.D (2012), University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.
