The University of Ibadan (UI) Students’ Union has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Akintayo Benjamin, popularly known as Dr. PSS, a highly respected figure in campus communication and student leadership.
Dr. PSS, a former Chairman of the UI’SU Board of PROs and a two-time Public Relations Officer of the Faculty of Science, graduated from the University last year.

According to a Special Release signed by Students’ Union PRO, Adekanmbi Ezekiel, Akintayo was known for his unwavering commitment to student advocacy and mentorship, and he remained a beacon of excellence and inspiration within the university community.
The statement dated 20 March, 2025 reads:
“With a heavy heart, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union extends its deepest condolences to the entire UITES community on the passing of Akintayo Benjamin popularly known as Dr. PSS, a distinguished former Chairman of the UI’SU Board of PROs and a two-time PRO of the Faculty of Science.
“A recent graduate who convocated last year, Dr. PSS was a beacon of excellence in campus communication and student leadership, leaving an indelible mark on the PR landscape of our institution. His unwavering dedication, service, and mentorship to budding PROs will always be remembered.
“In this moment of grief, we stand in solidarity with his family, colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come”.
