The Authority of the University of Ibadan (UI) has commenced preparation to hold the institution’s 2022 convocation ceremony and 74th Foundation Day Ceremony in November 2022.
According to the information gathered, graduands will come from the undergraduate, Masters and PhD levels.
The programme will, however, be low-key as current final-year students have been unable to complete their studies due to the protracted Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike of about eight months now.
There is a likelihood that the postgraduate students whose results were approved after the commencement of the ASUU strike will not be part of the graduands since the Senate of the institution has not met since March to approve results except there is an executive approval by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Kayode Adebowale.
Other events like the conferment of honourary degrees on deserving awardees will not take place this year.
The newly elected Provost of the Postgraduate College, Professor Ayodeji Ogunjuyigbe will also undertake his first official convocation assignment.
