The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Kayode O. Adebowale has emphasised the importance of students’ welfare to his administration, noting that as a nucleus of a university system, efforts should be geared towards students having the best academic and extracurricular experience in school.
Adebowale said this through the institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Ezekiel Olusola Ayoola when he received leaders of the UI Students Representative Council led by the Speaker, Miss Olatoye Eniola in his office.
Adebowale, who urged the students to explore the open door policy of the present administration to achieve a peaceful coexistence within the campus pointed out that students constitute an important component of any given university, and without this component, the university becomes irrelevant.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the students to go through all their extracurricular engagements within the campus with keen attention as the University is a good and unique preparatory ground for future endeavours and assured them of the management’s support for their proposed programme of activities.
Earlier in her speech, the Speaker of the UI SRC, Miss Eniola informed the Vice Chancellor that the visit was for familiarisation and to formally seek partnership with the management and bridge the gap between the management and students.
She stated that the student body sees the management as a ‘student-friendly administration’.
