Following a special bulletin 4306 dated June 1, 2020 and titled, “Re: Appointment of Vice-Chancellor”, issued and signed by the Registrar, University of Ibadan (UI), Olubunmi O. Faluyi, submission of applications for the position of Vice Chancellor of the nation’s Premier University officially closed yesterday, Thursday July 9 2020.
According to the bulletin, any candidate that do not submit his or her application on Thursday July 9, 2020 would not have the opportunity to do so again until 2025, when the position will be vacant once again.
“It is important to state that the published advertisement of Thursday 28 May, 2020
in the Daily Trust will serve as when the 6-week deadline for submission by all
interested applicants will start counting”, the bulletin stated.
Also, according to the schedule of activities for the appointment of vice chancellor, closing date of receipt of application from candidates is July 9, 2020.
However, between 13 and 17 July 2020, the Council will meet to take a report on the number of the applicants and the appointment of chairman of Search Team as well as call for nominations for Representatives of Senate and Congregation on the Search Team for the exalted position.
So far, PrimeStarNews gathered that over 10 candidates have submitted applications to indicate their interests in the office. It was further gathered that five candidates are from the College of Medicine.
