Gbenro Adesina
Dr Paul Ayodele Osifodunrin, a lecturer of History at the University of Lagos, has died after a protracted battle with lung cancer.
Born in 1967, Osifodunrin received his BA, MA, and PhD from the University of Lagos. He is co-editor (with Saheed Aderinto) of ‘The Third Wave of Historical Scholarship on Nigeria: Essays in Honor of Ayodeji Olukoju’ (2012).
He also authored ‘The First Church in Lagos: History of Holy Trinity Church, Ebute-Ero, 1852-2016′(2019).
Osifodunrin’s doctoral thesis in 2008 ‘Violent Crimes in Lagos, 1861-2000: Nature, Responses and Impact’ gave birth to many path-breaking articles in top-tier journals.
He was a recipient of numerous awards, including the African Humanities Postdoctoral Fellowship of the American Council of Learned Societies.
