A 400 level student of the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, of the University of Ibadan, Ayodeji Fiyinfoluwa Olaniran, has reportedly died in his sleep on July 30, 2020.
His death is coming days after the demise of a 300 level student of the Department of European Languages (German), Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan, Richard Philips Gbadebo, who was killed in an industrial accident in a factory in Ibadan.
A special release confirming the death dated July 30 2020 and jointly signed by the President, University of Ibadan Students’ Union, Akeju G. Olusegun and the Union’s Public Relations Officer, Oladeji Olawunmi Abiodun, read in part:
“Death is inevitable. We all pray to live long in life. With regret, we announce the death of OLANIRAN AYODEJI FIYINFOLUWA, A 400 LEVEL AQUACULTURE AND FISHERIES MANAGEMENT STUDENT in the faculty of Renewable Natural Resources and a resident of Ransome Kuti Hall who passed while sleeping on the 30th July, 2020.
We pray that God console the bereaved and keep us all. We also pray for mercy, Grace, healing and divine intervention in the University of Ibadan and the country at Large. God will heal our land. Rest on Ayodeji”.
His sister, Jumoke Olaniran, who did not disclose the cause of his death, wrote on Facebook, “Gone to soon! I can’t believe you left us so soon. You are just too promising, God fearing, gentle, brilliant and loving. It’s still like a dream Sha! How will I ever forget you calling me ‘sisi mi’. May your soul rest in peace”.
