The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), today stated that Abolongo Correctional Centre situated in Oyo town in Oyo State was attacked yesterday by some unknown gunmen and set some inmates of the centre free.
Speaking, NCS spokesperson in the state, Olanrewaju Anjorin, who confirmed that the invasion of the centre occurred around 10pm, said that the service is currently assessing the situation.
His words, “Yes, I am confirming that Abolongo Correctional Service was attacked yesterday. I am there now and we are assessing the level of damage done. We will make our findings known later. And right now, the comptroller of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) and other top officers are assessing the situation”.
