The US House of Representatives, on Wednesday January13, 2020, impeached President Donald Trump for “incitement of insurrection” at last week’s Capitol riot.
With this development, Trump has made history as the only US president to be impeached twice.
The House impeached Trump by 232-197.
Out of 232 votes that impeached the president, Republicans contributed 10.
However, the impeachment process cannot be completed until Trump faces a trial in the Senate and he is convicted.
The trial cannot hold while Trump is in the office because the Senate is in recess and will not resume until January 19, 2020, the last day of Trump in office and a day to when the President-Elect will assume office.
The question now is if Trump can be impeached after he has official completed his term and left the office.
