A veteran actress and film producer, Abolade Anike Obot has explained why she has not acted for a while, saying that she is selective in the acceptance of roles.
Obot, who revealed this to a Youtuber, also noted that movie producers have not been inviting her to participate in acting because she is far from Lagos, the epicenter of movie industry, adding, “They may not call me because I am far from them, I live in Ibadan.”
She equally said that movie producers only invite those that do their bidding and wary of principled actress like her.
The actress explained why she turned down her participation in a movie saying the role assigned to her was suicidal.
“Somebody invited me to participate in a movie. The person has paid me before explaining my role. He told me that I would work with Yemi Elebubon, a notable herbalist and the head of herbalists. He said that I would slap the elderly man and I asked him if he wanted to kill me. I asked him why would he think that I should slap an elderly person like that and the head of herbalists in Yorubaland. I said if the man would not do anything, his members, millions of them would avenge on his behalf. I told him I could not do it and returned his money to him. The movie never came out till today”, she added.
Revealing that she is working on a movie titled, “Kiriji War”, Obot said that apart from acting, she sells cloths.
