An Air India Express flight IX 1344 operated by B737 aircraft from Dubai to Kozhikode, which was carrying 191 passengers, has crash-landed at an airport in Calicut, at 1941 hrs local time tonight, August 7 2020.
The plane’s fuselage split in two after crash landing at Kozhikode airport in Calicut, Kerala, according to local media.
Emergency workers are at the scene. At least 14 people are feared to have died in the crash, 123 injured and 15 seriously injured.
Rescue operations are ongoing and injured passengers are being taken to the hospital.
Indian news reports say the plane skid off the runway during heavy rain and went down 35 ft. into a slope before breaking up into 2 pieces.
It was reported that there were 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots and 5 cabin crew onboard the aircraft.
