In the early hours of today, fire gutted Queens Elizabeth Hall, a popular female hostel at the University of Ibadan (UI).
Although no lives were lost, properties were destroyed.
As of the time of filing this report, the institution has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
However, in a telephone conversation, the spokesperson of the institution, Joke Akinpelu stated that the fire incident was not as massive as depicted on the social media.
Akinpelu said, “The fire incident only affected the Warden’s office and the secretary’s office to the warden. The fire did not get to our students’ rooms. This I am confirming to you because I have been there on inspection.”
