A Nigerian veteran actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has charged the youth to give their first salaries to their father for fatherly blessings rather than their pastors, stressing that it is wrong to give their first earnings to spiritual leaders.
Kanayo said this in a viral video where he requested his first son, Clinton Mbaise, who recently joined the filmmaking industry to give him N500 out of the N50,000 he first earned in the industry.
Recently, Kanayo introduced Clinton to his crew stating, “This is my son, Clinton. He is joining us as an Assistant Manager. Do not treat him like my son. He is just like anybody here. He is here to work and make his money.”
Kanayo pointed out that the African tradition demands that children should honour their fathers by presenting their first pay to him, who may decide to take it all or take out of it to bless the child, stressing that this culture from the ancestors has led to the progress of many people in the country.
After Mbaise gave him N500, he asked him to kneel down and rained blessings on him.
Kanayo said, “I want to observe a culture from our ancestors which has led to the progress of many people you see today, ”Father blessing.’
“Clinton my son just concluded a few production management with us and he has earned his first salary, his first salary is N50,000 for a movie.
“Clinton from your pocket in the N50,000 give me N500.
“The first salary of a young man, he goes to his father to say Nnayi my salary is N50,000, the father may decide to take the entire money, he may also decide to take any amount and his father will now bless him.
“The idea of his father asking him to know the salary is, so his father would teach him financial management.
“All you going to pastors to give your salary, you are wasting your time, is not part of our culture.”
Kanayo emphasised, “Take your first salary to your father for his blessings, not to your pastor. And to that Pastor, who said it belongs to him in a video in January, did you ever consider the feeding/transportation to and fro the office for that month? Where is this in the Bible? Christians wake up. This is not Christianity.”
