Mixed Reactions are trailing a trending video where a lecturer of the Abia State University (ABSU), Nigeria proposed to his female student in the classroom during his lecture period.
The incident occurred on the Valentine Day, Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
As of the time of filing this report, the names of the lecturer and his student girlfriend are not known.
In the video, the lecturer was seen kneeling down to give a ring to his student lover, after which the two romantically hugged to the excitement of the other students.
However, while some people on social media condemned the incident saying that it is unethical for the lecturer to publicly date his student, others see nothing wrong in the proposal. Many people called for the identification of the lecturer and demanded that he should be sanctioned for the act.
Ikokwu Chidozie @IkeokwuChidozie, “The University management should quickly apprehend this man. This is not allowed.”
BLAZE OF LAGOS@campusblaze, “Lecturer don lose focus, isn’t this unprofessional.”
Beneze@Beneze758683, “Congratulations to this girl, it shows how good she is . It’s a lesson to other girls that the eyes of men are on them but on how to make themselves available in quality character and resourceful wife to be, is the quality men look at.”
CIA@Inno4Chi, “If he is her current lecturer he may be suspended in a proper country. There is something we call ‘fiduciary relationship’ that exists between lecturer and student, just as doctors have with their patients. I reckon he may be a lecturer but no longer lectures her class.”
Boma@Boma_Wills, “No professional ethics at all… So he’s been dating his student all the while? Where is ASUU and the likes when you need them? They’re only available for strike against government, but they can’t regulate their colleagues.”
Tuchel of Calabar@Officially_Kriz, “This man should definitely be identified, sanctioned and punlshed. All these people doing ‘awwnn’ doesn’t know it is against university rules and regulations? U will learnn.”
John @Joiyy44, “Dunno, but it doesn’t feel totally right, especially if this man is taking this class in one or two courses. Maybe he shouldn’t have gone this public. Just do your thing low key and continue your professionalism.”
