The publisher of Sahara Reporters and the convener #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore was today shot by a Nigerian police officer identified as ACP Atine at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
Information has it that he was shot during a protest. He was shot at his thigh and he has been taken to hospital as at the time of filing this report.
However in a swift reaction, the Federal Capital Territory Police has denied that any of its officers has shot Sowore.
According to a statement by the police spokesperson, Mariam Yusuf, the police claimed that policemen were drafted to the scene of the protest to maintain law and order.
