President of the Yoruba World Congress (YWO), Professor Stephen Adebanji Akintoye, has taken the agitation of the creation of Oodua Nation from the present Nigeria, currently being presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO).
Akintoye, while delivery a paper at the organisation’s Congress, holds that Nigeria is a nation built on deceit by the British Government and that is why it has not been able to stand the test of time.
He is of the opinion that creation of Yoruba Nation can be achieved through a peaceful means.
Another member of the Organisation from Nigeria is Ogoni people in Niger Delta.
UNPO is an international membership-based organization established to empower the voices of unrepresented and marginalised peoples worldwide and to protect their fundamental human rights.
UNPO was conceived of in the late 1980s by exiled leaders of people living under communist oppression and was formally founded in February 1991 at the Peace Palace in The Hague.
Since then, UNPO’s membership has grown steadily from its original founders, with membership from more than 45 peoples worldwide, comprising over 300 million people lacking true representation in domestic or international forums.
At the Nigeria Independence in 1960, the British manipulated everything to impose Hausa/Fulani of Northern Nigeria as the dominant Group over the Nigeria Federal Government and to exclude the Yoruba leadership from the Federal Government, so that their influence on Nigeria will continue.
