The Western leaders have strongly condemned the Russian President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, for launching attack on Ukraine.
The western leaders are currently collaborating on the means to address what is described as unprovoked and unwarranted attack.
It is gathered that every five minutes, Russian army launch bomb attacks on Ukraine.
Speaking on the development, Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Boris Johnson said, “I am appalled by the horrific events and I have spoken to President Zelenskyy to discuss next steps.”
“President Putin has chosen a path of bloodshed and destruction by launching this unprovoked attack on Ukraine. The UK and our allies will respond decisively”, he added.
Also, President Joe Biden of the United States said, “The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they surfer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces. President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering…The world will hold Russia accountable. I will be monitoring the situation from the White House this evening and will continue to get regular update from my national security team. Tomorrow, I will meet with my G7 counterparts in the morning.”
The President European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen said, “In this dark hours, our thoughts are with Ukraine and the innocent women, men and children as they face this unprovoked attack and fear for their lives.”
Meanwhile, the Ukraine Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba has urged world to act immediately on Ukraine crisis stressing, “Future of Europe and the world is at stake.”
Kuleba called for devastating sanctions on Russia now and isolation of Russia by all means and in all formats.
The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz said, “Russia must stop this action immediately. Today, we will coordinate closely within the framework of the G7, NATO and EU.”
Russian President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, had earlier, in a broadcast said that he has decided to conduct a special military operation in Ukraine, warning all Ukrainian soldiers to lay down their arms and go back to their family, stressing that any form of resistance from the Ukraine government would met with the worst disaster they have never experienced.
His words, “I decided to conduct a special military operations. Its goal is the protection of people, who for eight years suffered from abuse in genocide from a carefree regime. We urge you to lay down arms immediately and go home. I will explain. All servicemen of Ukrainian army who comply with this requirement should freely leave the area of military action and return to their families. Whosoever tries to stop us and start to create a threat to our country, to our people should not should not hold Russian responsible for immediate and lead you to such consequence you have never faced in your history. We are already for any outcome”.
However, the Ukraine President, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy, has addressed Ukrainian, intimating them of the development and what is expected of them
He stated that his government has declared martial law and urged citizens not to panic as Russian launched military attack.
Zelenskky said, “Dear Ukrainian, this morning, President Putin announced special military operation in the Donetsk. Russian carried out strike on our military infrastructure and our bodyguards. Its explosions were heard in many cities in Ukraine. We introduced martial law throughout the state. A minute ago, I heard a conversation with President Biden. The USA is already trying to gather international support. Today, we need you, each of you to be calm, if possible, stay at home, please. We are working. The army is working. The entire security and defence sector of Ukraine is working. , the national security and defence council, the government will be in torch. Soon, we will be in touch again. Do not panic. We are strong. We are ready for everything. We will defeat everyone because we are Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine.”
Kuleba is seeking weapon, financial and humanitarian assistance from the western world.
