The pandemic spread of the dreaded coronavirus has revealed how insecure and defenceless humanity is. Being defenceless is not the mere absence of sophisticated mechanisms (as prevalent in Africa), but the lack of HOPE!
Sadly, most acclaimed Christians have been exposed of their frail premise of faith. They join in senseless social reactions rather than engaging the world from a spiritual premise of faith and hope.
Many do not take care of their eternal security so they find solace in trading blames, propagating conspiracy theories and human ideologies. They complain about the government’s inability to secure their lives and pour untold vituperations on those who they presume want to have the world on their palms.
“God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.” (Pslams 62:11). One of the most difficult dimension of God we fail to accept is His sovereignty. For me, I do not strive to understand that dimension, I just choose to trust Him.
Earlier this week, a dear friend who got married about five months ago lost her husband to death in the hands of hungry robbers who invaded their home. Shallow minds subtly justified their action by blaming the government for not putting palliative measures in place after the lock down. But the bottom line is this: we all possess the will to either take or give. People’s lives have always been cut short by these evil people long before the pandemic.
Through the untold grieve, I asked questions, but who can question God? As we prayed for her this morning, I eventually heard God say: “For the believer, there are no bitter days ahead, ALWAYS BETTER DAYS”. Wow! Despite the grieve, the pain and losses, can we choose to believe that there are better days ahead? This is our ultimate security, the place of deep comfort.
Let me submit that our view of the days ahead is often laced by our sensual perceptions. It takes the Spirit of God for anyone to see beyond the sensual. If you live recklessly, not minding the eternal consequences of the decisions you make, then you are no better than the people you brand as evil. Your sinful living makes you as heartless and evil as they are, because you deny yourself of your better days by losing focus on the one who holds tomorrow in His hands.
No man has the capacity to determine tomorrow, but God. Gratefully, He says His thoughts towards us are thoughts of peace not of evil! (Jeremiah 29:11). What an amazing assurance. Through it all, tomorrow will always be better. Dear friends, we owe Him absolute trust.
You are the Chief Executive Officer of your life, who legislates the contemplations of your heart? It is at the foot of the cross that we find eternal security, a robust deposit we enjoy ONLY when we say yes to Jesus and live that ‘yes’ for Him.
Let’s stop saying yes to social media speculations. Go to God’s Word, study and meditate on it and find true peace in the midst of the bedlam. Appraise your life, the greatest lose of security is to live a life without Jesus Christ. This life, no matter how insecure you feel it is is a drop in God’s massive ocean of eternity. Your eternal security is just a decision away. That’s the security worth talking about in this challenging times.
May God cover you and yours with is unfailing love, now and always.
