The defection of the former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode from the nation’s main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC) has been met with sharp criticisms.
While many Nigerians have noted that the defection was influenced by financial gain as Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria noted that Fani-Kayode only pitches his tent to where he could be sure of food, an Islamic cleric, Ahmad Abubakar Gumi point blank described Fani-Kayode as a Yoruba Judas, who is always ready to betray his ethnic group for money.
However, Fani-Kayode did not waste time in replying his critics, whom he described as little monkeys and people with small brain and low intelligence.
Fani-Kayode, who had one time joined hands with a Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho to demand for Yoruba Nation, as well as justice and fairness to all ethnic groups openly said that he is now committed to ensuring that Nigeria does not split into smaller nations.
According to him, he would do everything possible to reach out to Sunday Igboho and other nations’ agitators to shelve the idea, adding that any violent nation’s agitator cannot be his friend.
His words, “I will never deny Sunday Igboho as a friend. We may not agree on everything but he remains my friend. You can be friend to people and not fighting their courses or not even agree with them. Whenever we disagree, we did so privately, but publicly, he is my friend”.
“I am committed to keeping Nigeria together. I am also committed to ensuring that those that want to break up Nigeria are reached out to and spoken to with respect, love and compassion”, he added.
Fani-Kayode boasted that he could never need any financial assistance from anybody because he was from a wealthy background and he had worked so hard to also make money.
He felt sad that Nigerians underestimated his wealth saying, “I am considerably wealthy than what most people think. I don’t need anything from anybody. I work hard and I have always worked hard and I have never lacked anything good”.
He also pointed out that he has decided to stop fighting the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari or criticizing him over his policies, reiterating that he would rather join the government to fight against breaking-up of Nigeria.
