Yoruba World Congress (YWC) has called on Yoruba people within and outside Nigeria to come out en masse on Thursday October 1, 2020, for a rally to launch the open call for the independence of Yoruba nation called Oduduwa Nation.
YWC, on its website stated, “This is to inform the general public (Yoruba) that Oduduwa Republic Rally will hold across the globe on 1ST OCTOBER 2020. Our rally is in line with the international law/human rights. Your presence and support is therefore needed”.
“Oct 1st is Nigeria independence day, which is also Oduduwa rally day and Biafra lockdown. I urge all Yorubas to come out for the rally. Do not let Nigeria independence celebration eclipse us”, it added.
The Group further added, “The journey to Freedom is not a short and easy one, but a long and tedious experience. But we shall overcome with perseverance and determination. October 1st is by no means the end of our push for freedom but rather the beginning of it. Come out with your drums and your songs”.
The Group said that the Yoruba people only want to demand for their rights adding, “We are joyous people and are not out to pick a fight with anyone”.
