The Minister’s dismissal was contained in a statement from the Presidency, signed by Lungu’s spokesperson Isaac Chipampe.
Although no reason was pinpointed for his sack but it may not be unconnected to the viral video of him masturbating.

Minister of Education in Zambia, David Mabumba was on Wednesday sacked by the country’s President Edgar Lungu after nude video clips of him went viral on social media.
The Minister’s dismissal was contained in a statement from the Presidency, signed by Lungu’s spokesperson, Isaac Chipampe.
The statement from the presidency did not give reasons for his removal but it came after explicit video clips of the minister were leaked on Twitter, Facebook and shared via Whatsapp.
It only said Lungu “had terminated the appointment of Minister of General Education with immediate effect”, and has been replaced by the Minister of Water Development Sanitation and Environmental Protection, Dennis Wanchinga.
The Minister was seen in the video masturbating while on live WhatsApp video with a woman.
The video has since generated a lot of controversy and debate in the country and around Africa.
Mabumba is currently in quarantine over the coronavirus pandemic, according to local media.
Local media reported that police are now investigating the circulation of the nude video with a government official urging the public to stop circulating the video.
David Mabumba, 49, was appointed to the cabinet in 2016.
While the Minister is yet to comment on the video, police in the country are now investigating the circulation.
